TEN

HEIDI

It had been a very long time since she’d slept that well. Zombie wore her out, but in the best possible way.

The warm water pelting down on her achy muscles felt sublime. The damn man was a freaking acrobat. She blushed thinking of all the positions he coaxed her body into and wrung pleasure from her in.

For a moment, thoughts from the past intruded and stole her morning-afterglow or rather, afternoon-afterglow. Only one other man even tried to do anything creative with her. They just assumed that a bigger girl like her wasn’t flexible.

“Their loss.”

“Whose loss, Rabbit?”

“Jesus.” She jumped out of her skin so hard she almost slipped and became a bathroom accident statistic. Zombie was casually leaning against the doorframe. Staring with those intense brown eyes.

“It doesn’t matter,” he said as he started to strip. “It’s my gain. You have about two seconds to dry off before I carry your fine wet ass to bed.”

The way he stalked toward the shower door was sexy as shit. Heidi had never enjoyed an overly macho man before. But somehow, Zombie’s alphaness was different and a turn-on. She wanted to jump his bones rather than kick him in the nuts.

Maybe because it wasn’t born from a sense of inadequacy, but confidence and heightened pleasure. Most men wanted to control because they had mommy issues. They needed to feel like a man, and controlling a woman did that for them, at least in her experience. It was so not sexy, but the man currently issuing orders in the bathroom? Totally sexy.

She thought about disobeying so he could slam her against the shower wall, but a) shower sex was never as good in practice as in theory. And b) she remembered his prosthesis. Heidi had no idea the care and maintenance, nor did she understand the traction or lack thereof that could be involved.

That’s a to-try list item that might need some preparation and planning.

To-Try List?

What the hell, she was getting her life back after this. No matter if she fell for the sexy-as-sin MC president or not. He wasn’t the keeps type, not for her anyway. She was the kind of girl that men had a good time with and pretended it was more thinking it would get them further. But ultimately, she wasn’t girlfriend material.

Kind of like a moped, you loved to ride it, but you didn’t take it out on a Saturday night.

And for ninety-nine point nine percent of her life, Heidi was a-okay with that. Hell, she was using them too, they were basically her sports cars. A thrill to race zero to sixty but too much maintenance for an everyday commute. As long as everyone was honest about where they were going and what it was, she was fine being a scooter.

Deep down, she didn’t want to be that for Zombie. She ached to be more, but she refused to let her mind go too far down that rabbit hole. No pun intended.

“Yes, sir,” she retorted, tossed the towel in his face, and squealed as she bolted past him.
